Chinese Rover Travels Into Polaris Territory Without Clearance

A small Mars rover.

This morning, at 7:29 Polaris Time, a rover from a Chinese colony at the equator was spotted moving towards Polaris facilities. About 10 minutes later, the rover was seen making light contact with a building before driving away towards the equator. No damage was done to the building.

This was the first recorded event of Chinese incursion into American Martian colonies, especially troubling as tensions rise between Russia and the US over territorial claims. The Sol has reached out to the rover’s designated operator regarding the situation. “Uhm… oops.” they said, before disconnecting the call.

Polaris officials, at a press conference this morning, have said that they are investigating the rover and its operator in collaboration with the Chinese government. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China stated that they “will prosecute the rover operator to the fullest extent of the law, both Chinese and international.” Rover incursions of this type have been a rising concern among Mars-inhabiting nations, and will be a major topic in today’s US-Russia summit on Mars in Moscow.
